PROJECT DESCRIPTION
On April 7th, 2017, I exhibited Cyborg Goddess in collaboration with Zerga Sanctuary at an artist community space in Hollywood known as Junior High. This project created a space of physical virtuality that asked viewers to move beyond the limitations of body, spirit, and technology. I executed the concept of the “future body” by building an interactive sculpture that reacted as participants touched one of three water bowls connected to capacitive sensors. Each sensor ran through Pure Data software to generate a video projection. The duration of the sensors was determined by the participants’ interaction with the water’s electricity. This interactive sculpture was placed within a large room made of a PVC skeleton which was lined with polyester film known as Mylar. The Mylar made a conductive surface that allowed the participant to complete a circuit which triggered the codes to function with their bodies.
